Hi,

Geforce 9800 GX2 is a PCI express 2.0 card though I am wondering if it would work on my A8N32SLI? Is PCI express 2.0 backward compatible?

Thanks,

E-k.

I have an A8n SLI Deluxe and was told it would work , you can even do quad with 2. PCI express will work with a PCI express 2.0. BUT, you might get 1-3 frames less then if you had a 2.0 PCI-E slot mobo. You can compansate with a mild overclock.

This is good news. My idea is to buy my graphic card today and have the usage of it. If I want to use a PCI-E 2.0 mobo, I also need a new CPU, new mem, new cooling and a painful RAID migration. If I_want everything nice and sexy, I am gonna need a lot of money. So I'll start with the Nvidia and buy the rest for x-mas.
Thx maximiza for the info!

Hello and welcome to the forums mate :)

Yes PCI-E 2.0 is backward compatible with PCI-E 1.0 and really u wont notice a difference between PCI-E 1.0 and 2.0 at least for current cards.
