That currently puts me at a price of $549.65 with rebates and shipping. I still need a Mobo and processor, and probably a CPU fan, i heard that the
Xigmatek Rifle doesn't fit in the 900 case is this true?
Also not looking to the break the bank, doesnt mean it has to be dirt cheap either, on mobo and processor because the i7 technology is coming out but would still like something good like the Q6600 or the E8400 or E8500 something along those lines, not really planning on OCing and not planning on crossfiring in teh rear future, so if you could tell me if this looks good, and a reliable mobo + processor suggestions that would be greatly appreciated
thanks in advance

Mobo: Dfi x48 $219.99

Cpu:
q6600 oem $184.99

e8400 $169.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115037

take e8400 if you play games

take q6600 if you want to future proof yourself for longer time

for cooler I would go with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835887011

as for overclocking....definitely with q6600 just do your research how and you will stretch your dollar :)

The HDT-S1283 does fit in the Antec 900, with some motherboards. It doesn't with others. I suggest you get the shown combination below in this newegg review (except with HD 4850 cards, not HD 3870 - the review is old):

Exceptional

Pros: Keeps my OCed Q9450 (800X4 @ 3.2GHz) cool and it's quiet. 2 to 3 degrees celsius change in temps with the mild overclock. Fits on my GIGABYTE GA-X48-DS4 board in an Antec 900 case nicely. This thing is a beast and a beast of a cooler. Amazing temps under full load and at idle the fan doesn't even come on for several minutes unless I disable the cpu fan adjustment setting in the Bios so it will run constantly instead of when the processor heats up.

Cons: Put this on the motherboard before installing the motherboard. Two things: 1) Make sure you know how to install the fan onto the heatsink and you might want to install it and uninstall it so you are sure of how to put it on, but do not put the fan on before you install the heatsink onto the processor. It's in the way; it's a pain to install the fan after, but makes installing the push-pins much easier. 2) This fan should come with a bolt-thru kit to make it simpler and more secure. Not enough to knock a star off.

Other Thoughts: Q9450 at 3.2GHz(OC:800 X 4) air-cooled EXCEPTIONALLY with a Xigmatek HDT-S1283 heatsink-fan/ Artic Silver 5/ GIGABYTE GA-X48-DS4/ A-DATA G series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800/ DIAMOND Viper 3870PE4512SB Radeon HD/ Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum Fatality/ Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB/ Maxtor 500GB 16 meg for backup. Windows XP 64 Pro. No raid yet-no Crossfire yet-NO stability issues or heat and NO too loud jet engine wind tunnel issues either. Quiet, cool, efficient and runs everything I want it to now. All fits nices in an Antec 900 case with Antec TPQ 850 (80+) power supply. 11 out of 14 items bought here for my latest build. Thanks NewEgg for the exceptional shipping and prices!

I was just wondering what you thought of the Gigabyte EP35-DS3L http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128337 because it was one of the cards that i read that fit in the antec 900 case with the rifle without a problem. I think i might of read that people had to bend a couple of the fins to get it to fit on the P5Q pro, is this true? Should i just get the P5Q with an after market fan or should i get the gigabyte. Im planning to upgrade the board after the i7 chipset comes out and the market starts to settle on them.
Just wondering your thoughts and thank you for the replies. this has been very helpful

So you want a disposable MB for half a year or so, until i7? All right, in that case the GA-EP35-DS3L makes sense. The cheaper the better :)
It only has PCI-E 1.0, which may bottleneck that HD 4850 a bit, but from what I've read it's not a serious problem.

P5Q Pro + HDT-S1283 - there are three reviewers at newegg who bought the P5Q Pro and mention the HDT-S1283. None of them says anything about fitting issues. I'm 99% sure it fits, based on that. I know it's not very scientific, but people who bother to write a review already would mention a thing like that, IMO.

BTW, I know the P5Q Deluxe has problems like that, even with the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro.
