Well there has been some talk lately about crysis warhead running on a $600 system. If you haven’t seen this article here ya go. http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g47/Yeti_MRU/crywar.jpg

Notice that is says “crytek built its own machine capable of running the game silky smooth, with all the bells and whistles turned on.”

These specs were listed in the Aug edition of pc gamer:
Shuttle SG32G2S Barebone case 239.99
Intel E2180 82.99
Samsung SH-S203B DVD burner 29.99
Hitachi Dekstar 7k160 160gb hard drive 48.99
A-Data 2GB DDR2 SDRAM 45.99
MSI 8600gt 512mb videocard 94.99
Vista 32-bit Home Premium 109.99
Total 652.93

All the bells and whistles… hmm
I’ll give it that we don’t’ know what warhead performs like, or at what res they are talking about here, but I can’t imagine it being more than 800 by 600.

Just ignoring the fact that these claims reek of over exaggeration; I can’t help but think: is that the best they can do with $600?

Today I ordered a new system for a buddy of mine. It was not only cheaper but should perform a hell of lot better on crysis.

The only item that has a shipping cost is the motherboard which I included. He is also eligible for $35 in rebates make that total 586.97.

You could also make this computer cheaper by getting less expensive case. Everything else is about good as your going to get value wise. If you weren’t over clocking an AMD system would be better, but in this case we are. Also you could do vista but then you would have to ad at least one more GB of ram to get the same performance.

Well what do you guys think of crytek’s $600 system?
Ya think you can do better?

This go around Crytek isn't desighning a game on false promises from Nvidia. Last go around they worked with Nvidia and made it to complicated, then Nvidia never delivered the orrect hardware/software to make it work. Nvidia has no say so this round so it is very possible.

eeek change that cpu

The only logical upgrade for this price range would be a e7200. That's an extra $50 that be better spent on going towards a 4850 graphics card.

An e2180 oc'd to 3 ghz+ would get the job done.
