I was given a 5400+ brisbane by my father to install in place of my 4400+ 90nm (forget which core exactly). Upon installing said brisbane processor, the system became unstable. I had no issues with the 4400+ and ocz gold ram. However the 5400+ seems to make the ram unstable. I managed to get the ram to stay stable for a few hours once by shutting off dram bank interleaving, however that too became unstable over time. I have fiddled with the voltage settings, tweaked memory timings, and tried virtually everything(aside from pulling my hair out). My bios is up to date.
I have read in passing that the ocz gold memory simply will not run without it's 2.1v. Simply cannot be true, I ran on that memory for a year with absolutely no issues with my 4400+(and no voltage changes over the stock default).
I am currently running on a 667 Kingston value 2gb stick, which kills my gaming performance because of the lowered bandwidth. I miss my dual channel ram!!
I hope this is a simple fix and I'm not looking at buying more ram or a different motherboard.
I have a GA-M61PME-S2 sitting around that I could use in a pinch, however I'm not sure if downgrading from nforce 570 to 430 is worth my time.
I was thinking i may sell the ocz ram and buy new stuff. Any thoughts or suggestions out there?
