Hi there, I am just looking for some advice and insight on overclocking my E8400.

I am using an E8400 which I have overclocked to 3.5 (See Attached Pic). I have just recently purchased a Corsair H50 cooler which has slightly adjusted my loading temperature.

H50 Corsair Cooler
Idle: 35C
Load: 51C

Are these temperatures considered safe? I think that SpeedStep is causing them to be so dramatic due to the massive VDroop. My core voltage is 1.248 at 3.5 which is under load.

Speed step drops my Core Speed down to around 2333.8 which causes a fluctation of 1.088v, 1.104v, 1.120. Is this considered healthy?

Any advice is greatly appreciated, many thanks in advance.

speed step only lowers the cpu multiplier not sure what lowers the idle voltage but if you computer is stable then its ok

Your temperatures and vcore look good. Plenty of head room left.

The cpu multiplier and vcore fluctuations associated with speed step are normal and are considered healthy. I wish I could use speed step but unfortunately I have to disable it to access my FSB.

Anyway , all is good. Now to hit 3.8 then 4.0 :pt1cable:

well you dont want it running at full speed when your idling, mine idles at 2.4ghz, and goes up to 3.8 under full load
