Memory compatibility

I'm about to get the below mother board.

I was wondering if I could still use my old Crucial Ballistix from my old system to this new motherboard. If I can, what would I be losing by not upgrading my memory?

Thank you in advance.

  1. That motherboard requires DDR3 memory and you own DDR2 memory. You'll have to by more expensive DDR3 memory. Why did you select that motherboard?
  2. I get it less through my work's program. So it won't be of used to my new system? I guess I'll have to part off my old system.
