i am new here
trying to build my own pc
can u plz tell me which one is better processor....at least for gaming

would u say
AMD Phenom 8450 Toliman 2.1GHz 3 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 95W Triple-Core Processor - Retail

is better than

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 89W Dual-Core Processor - Retail

there is difference in GHz but at the same tme Phenom has AM2+ socket and 95W and TRIPLE CORE......does that mean its faster and better then the other one????
Sorry, i am immature in this things....

No, the tri core is slower, in just about everything. Most programs are dual optimized. Even with encoders that scale almost linearly with cores, it's 3x2.1 instead of 2x3.0. Not to mention it depends on L3 cache, which is far slower than L2.

Higher means more energy consumption and heat production. Lower is better.
