External hard drive can not be re-installed

I lost the CD driver of my external drive...I could not seem to find it and the model os hard to tell... how could I download online.. the driver....since my computer is not recognizing my external drive. Could somebody help me.

Are you really sure you can't tell us what the brand and model of your external hard drive is? This information is required if you want to look for the drivers online.

Also for what operating system? Most of them for the past number of years have not needed any drivers for the majority of external drives.
