I am using the stock fan and heatsink. The case also has decent airflow.
Room temp is 24C
IDLE
CPU--28C
MOBO--34C
NB--37C
HD--38C

LOAD (running prime95 for 40min)
CPU--42C
MOBO--36C
NB--48C
HD--39C

I want to get a good cooler from newegg.com (budget is $40-$80) link to the cpu coolers on newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] esult=True
My motherboard http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Product [...] 785GM-US2H

On a completely seperate system. Same budget though ($40-$80).
I am looking for a high end FAN and HEATSINK to cool an i5 running on this motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813130238
I don't really want to get into water-cooling, but i saw this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6835181010 would it be able to cool the i5 better than a high end air cooler??
This system also has a case with great airflow http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6811119194

Wait, your at 42C? Under load? No need for another cooler. Unless your measuring with the Mobo bios your temps are wayyyy good. You running small ffts and all cores are on?

What chip?

Anyway, your temps are wayyyyyy good.

On the second system, I would pass on the H50. test have proven it's just as good as a top air cooled HS, like a TRUE, or Meglahem or a few others.

I don't want to sound elitist, but we really don't consider that watercooling my any means at all. real watercooling gives MUCH better temps than any air cooled setup but unfortunately starts at about $200 for a basic quality CPU only loop.

Look at the watercooling solved link at the top of the forum, and see what real watercooling is. it's fun as heck.

Not very plausible in terms of accuracy. Not nearly enough information about your rig. As Conumdrum asked, to which processor are you referring?

Check these "top ten" like lists:

http://www.frostytech.com/top5heatsinks.cfm
http://benchmarkreviews.com/index. [...] itstart=15
http://www.silentpcreview.com/Recommended_Heatsinks

On a side note, it doesn't seem plausible for the COU temp to be lower than the MoBo temp

Newegg doesn't carry them all, I bought mine here:

If a man speaks in the forest and no woman hears him, is he still wrong ? Very profound! :sol:

Hmm, there are female flowers, plants, and even bugs. So yes, he is wrong ALL the time unless there is a man nearby to set the record straight. No flower, bug or plant will stand up to a mans boot!
