GA-965P-DQ6 - PSU problems

I've installed the above board and I am using a PSU with 4 pins on the12v board supply cable. The board has an 8 way connector - question - do I need to use a PSU with the 8 pins - I'm running a P4D CPU. I ask as I have noticed some discolouration on one of the pins which would indicate it’s getting too hot.

Discoloration would indicate that you are pulling too much power through the pins and should go to an 8 pin connector. If everything else is working, you should be able to get away with using a 4 -> 8 pin adapter instead of replacing the PSU.
