Hello to everyone! I have a simply question,:-) and i know you guys can tell me an answer. So, I have a motherboard ASUS P5B-E Plus (p965 chipset) with Intel Core2Duo E6300 cpu (1.86 mhz, 1066 mhz fsb, 65nm
I would like to upgrate my cpu to E7200 or 7300, but i dont know does my motherboard support 45nm...:-( Any recommendations?
On the other hand, i know the intel E6xxx series are in 65nm, but their front side bus is 1333mhz, and my ASUS P5B-E plus is 1066mhz. I just want to upgrate my cpu, no interest to buy another motherboard. Do you can tell me what can i do, or do you have any recommendations?
Thank tou very much.

Look into q6600 or q6700, both 65nm and running 1066mhz fsb. A Kentsfield quad should breath some new life into the old system without stressing the motherboard.

yeah it would prberly run, BTW: an e7200 isnt an upgrade. there isnt mcuh performance differnece. i have a e6300, and with no increased voltage, and stock cooling and it is overclocked to 2.45Ghz, just set the fsb to 350 :)

if you want to upgrade, try looking for a q6600

350x4 = 1400mhz fsb. The p965 motherboard may not be able to handle that.
