hey guys how ya doing, built a machine last year asus m2n32 sli,PSU ocz gx850,CPU amd64x2 5600 2.8g,VGA xfx7900gs,MEM corsair twin mxs2 1gx2gig in a big case with 4 fans. Cpu temps run about 40c to50c operating sysem XP. well anyway I have burned up two vga 7900 and a xfx 8600gs. use a fluke meter to check voltage found no problems.Any suggestions would help and of course xfx has been good about their rma,s thanks kirda
It seems unlikely that you just got a bad run of cards. I think they downgraded you though going from a 7900gs to a 8600gs . Anyway it seems to me that the likely culprit is the Power supply. Perhaps it is giving an improper number of AMPS. It could also be the PCI-E slot giving off the improper amount of power or there is a short somewhere. Is the PCI-E connector on the card burned or blackened? Is the PCI-E connector or any of the circuitry on the board close to there burned or blackened?

Like wise. It happens, the odds are low, but with the amount of cards sold, it is bound to happen. You just a had a bad string of cards.
I just returned 2 3870 that came "DOA" in closed box. Opted out for a 4850. Pretty good if you ask me !!
