E8500? How long...

Hey guys i had a question considering my new build. i got 2 gigs ram, e8500, single 4850 both cpu and gpu overclocked. cpu is overclocked to 3.8 gighz the gpu... not too sure cuz i dont wanna open catalyst right now. but my question is simply this: how long do you suspect the E8500 will still 'be fast'. by this i mean do you think it will still preform in 5 years? thoughts?

Probably obsolete, unless the world refused to change in such a long time.

The most popular processors about 5 years ago are the Pentium 4's, the fastest processors of the Pentium 4 are now the absolute minimum requirements in todays PC games.

Imagine the fastest cpu from 5 years ago. Nothing lasts 5 years.

In 5 years it will work as good on the present games and apps as it does now...the question is will you still be playing or using them?

My plan is to wait until the final, fastest LGA 775 quad is at the right price, snap it up, and upgrade again in 2011-2012 Maybe.
