Q9550 or Q9650 worth the extra $230?

So out of the Q9550 2.8Ghz or Q9650 3Ghz is it worth the extra $230 or should I just get the Q9550 and overclock to 3Ghz? Will the Q9550 be exactly the same then as the Q9650?

The Q9550 is really at the sweet spot for price and performance. With a mild and easily obtained overclock the Q9550 would be faster than the stock clocked Q9650.

The 9550 is definitely a better value. It can be easily overclocked to out-perform the 9650.

They're identical other than slight increase in multiplier.

As of right now, the Q9650 is not worth the extra dough. You can get the Q9550 and oc just as high as the Q9650. Maybe after i7 comes out, the price difference between the two will be more reasonable.

It really depends,to those are making $20,000-30,000 a year,it's not worth it.But to those who's making $100,000+ a year that's less than a day's pay for some extra speed that may give them the excitement beyond that,so it's really up to your personal income and your desire for having the best of the best,the only one that can give you a clear answer is yourself to your question.
