For a case, look for Antec P180, a very well designed case. Other mentions are Antec 900, 300, 1200, Cooler Master RC-690. HD 4850 or 9800GTX+ are better choices than 3850. 4850 prices puts it ahead of the 9800GTX+ in my mind. The E8400 is much cheaper, even the E8500 is cheaper, but they do not guarantee the newest core stepping E0 which is the E8600's sole stepping. For power, look at Corsair CMPSU 650/750TX which are cheaper after rebates. Why do you need 8GB of RAM again? I see Two 2 x 2GB RAM kits on the list.

i would pick the lower E8200 or E8400 and leave the very expensive E8600 and spend it on a faster graphics card such as 4870 or possible X2 if you can save more. the HD3xxx card is not worth getting now.

is their any real benefit to the E0 core stepping on the e8600?

I will definately ditch the 3850's for the 4850.

I guess 4gb of ram would be overkill?

The Antec P180 looks good I'll switch that out as well.

Thanks for all the help everyone!

Agree with much of the above.

I would save some money by going for a Corsair PSU (750TX). Although there is a good deal on the PC P&C box it is still too expensive. You could put the extra towards 4870s.

You also won't need the thermal paste without an aftermarket cooler. The retail one comes with stock stuff applied.

Liking the case btw - wish I had £80 to spend on one!
