New Products vs Windows XP pro

My concern is that alot of these newer models of mobos and CPUs are too advance to run under Windows XP pro. I tried a few weeks back with a new build (with help from a salesperson), but kept running into problems. My final problem was the os would start loading then give me a 'hard error' on a blue screen. So I returned it all since no one could give me a reason for this happening.

I signed up here after hearing about it through other friends, and I must say, the people on here have been a great help with information unknown to me. So here we go:

I have a cakewalk Sonar 5 Producer that only works well on XP.
I know I can only get 4GB ram from Windows XP pro.
I've read that a dual core is all I really need to run this well. (only for studio use, no games)

So can anyone let me know if there is anything to avoid when making a build for XP pro?

The build I'm looking to setup with compatible ram:

AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black
Gigabyte GA-M68MT-D3 w/ NVidia 7025
G.Skill 2GB X 2 (4GB) 1333Mhz Memory
Western Digital 1TB Serial ATA/300 7200rpm 32MB buff
Lite-On DVD/CD Burner
Antec 500w Power Supplie
Cool Master Elite Mid-Tower Case

Well depends what xp your talking about 32bit or 64bit?

I have a xp64bit but it is a workstation.

specs:
2 xeon x5272
16.0GB ram
Quadro FX 5600
136GB scsi drive

From the systems I have built the only problem I would have is with hardware issues not software XP is pretty solid.

That said you should be able to use whatever hardware is available.

The new mobos and hardware are not too advanced for xp, I don't know where you got this info but its false!
