Hy to all,

I have o power supply in my old computer, a 360W chrome finish Sirtec High-Power. I intend to buy a new set of components to build a new computer

Intel E8400, Mobo Asus P5Q, 2x2 Gb Corsair XMS2 DHX, 2 WD SATA HDD
and a HIS ATI Radeon 4850

My power supply would face these for a short time? I also intend to buy a new one next month but now i have cash only for components above

On this Sirtec I have two 12v rails @ 16 and 18A each for an aprox 216W

I read so many forums thread, some say it would do the job, some don't agree this

I have done a power supply calculator at outervision and gave me a power supply requirement of aprox 300W for this PC in full load

Pls. share your opinion.

Thanks

You definitely need a new psu. The important number is the 12V+ 216W (18A). That is where most of the power used comes from. And I've never heard of Sirtec, so I'd assume it's a cheap psu. And cheap psu's usually can't run at their rated capacity. So, more that likely you'll fry the psu and possibly the rest of your system. Get at least a 500W good brand psu like Corsair, PC power & cooling, or Antec earthwatts.

i question the reliability of that psu. the last thing you would want after buying all those new parts is to have the thing blow up and take all those new parts along with it. invest in a new one.

I don't think to be a cheap power supply. It's also known as High-Power brand
Look at www.sirtec.com or search high power on google

Yes i know i must change it, but could i run with this for couple of weeks? i need the computer in this time

Try those componants with that PSU and you will be back here in a few days trying to fix your fried computer.

Time to upgrade your PSU I'm afraid
