Looking for a good Palm Tungsten T3 USB HotSync cable -- preferably one that
will charge at the same time without the use of a cradle -- a bulky and hard to
carry around cradle.

The ones on eBay really look cheap cheap cheap and they don't have a HotSync
button.

Any suggestions?

The cheap ones work. The button is only a convenience, you can start the
hotsync on the Palm. They all charge, AFAIK. I like the ZipLinq
retractable cable, which retracts to a package about 3" long, which is
easy to carry around. I also have a Proporta charge/sync cable, which
comes with a wall wart with just about any adapter you would need in any
country, and a charger that plugs into your cigarette lighter in the car,
all providing a quick charge. I use the ZipLinq when I'm sure I'll have
a PC and the Proporta when I might not. I keep the 12V charger in my
card all the time, for charging my Palm and my GPS while driving, using
the same cable.

Yes, the combination USB Sync/Car Charger cable from Palm, it's the
first cable listed on this page under "HotSync® cables & adapters"

I've a TT which has the universal connector - not sure what the T3
uses.

My cheapo Brando Workshop cable worked perfectly well though when i
broke it I bought an official Palm cable.

The Palm cable is difficult to maintain a connection with as it doesnt
fit well against the base of the TT.

Try before buying if you can
