Un recognizable flash drive

Hello! I have a similar problem. i have one of those i touch knock off and i am reinstalling the firmware. the program used to install the firmware is not recognizing the flash drive, however my computer does. i've gone in device manager, it says it is working properly, and is read in my computer. I believe the data inside the device is corrupted of something along those lines. the device is hooked up to a male USB 2.0 to male USB. I am seeking a second opinion. any suggestions?
