DRIVELOCK PASSWORD

Hello. I have a Compaq Presario M2000 laptop. When I turned it on, it asked me to type a DriveLock password. I do not recall specifying any DriveLock password in the past. I have gone to computer repair shops but they don't have a clue on how to solve my problem.

Any suggestions? If i have an external hard drive, would it be possible to boot the laptop from there? Or do I have to have my internal hard drive replaced?

Best option is Compaq tech support, DriveLock is a common problem, they should be able to either supply the default password or a (bootable) unlock disk, just be awaire that they often request some form of proof of ownership (or ID).
