I have a Q6600 currently running 2.4 till I get an aftermarket heatsink. Should I underclock my RAM to 533 MHz(266) so that it can have a lower latency as the CPU FSB is only 266? And then take it back up after I OC my CPU?

Wow, bumping after 7 minutes....

Anyway, I would not under clock your ram.

Underclocking may get you slightly lower latency but it will also slow down the maximum throughput it can manage.

The ultimate test though is to try it. Run the ram at rated speed and test its throughput using software and then underclock it.

In my case, when encoding H264 1080p video I got 18fps with ram at 800MHz on my Q6600 and only 5fps when underclocked to 533MHz.

Testing is the best way to see you system performance. Im waiting on my RMA to test my 2x2gb with speed or timing to see wich is the best for me.

OC your system to 3.0 at least, you quad can take it EZ whit a nice aftermarket cooling solution. after that try with the RAM. Timing and or Speed.
