So I recently built a new machine that has the GA-EP43-DS3L/S3L mobo, and when I attempted to OC, I realized that the proc (e8400) jumps from 3 to 2 ghz. I know why it is doing it, but I can't figure out where in the BIOS I turn the energy saving feature off.

I know that gigabyte has the program with the off/on button for the energy thing, but it doesn't stop the problem from happening.

Where in the BIOS do you turn off the speedstep thing?

Check under Advanced

Disable those 2 settings and you will turn off this feature, but it will lead to higher power use at idle and higher temps at idle as well

The same thing is happening to me now.
I installed DES earlier but was not able to run it since i didn't update my bios.
Today i updated my BIOS and installed DES.It worked fine.
But after i uninstalled DES, it continues to lower my processor speed when idle.
I'm using Gigabyte GA-X58 UD5 mobo with core i7 processor.

On the "MB Intelligent Tweaker(M.I.T.)", select
"> Advanced CPU Features" - Press <Enter>
set:
"CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E)" to "Disabled"
"C3/C6/C7 State Support" to "Disabled"
and
"CPU EIST Function" to "Disabled"

Press <Escape> to return to "MB Intelligent Tweaker(M.I.T.)" page, select
"> Advanced Clock Control" - Press <Enter>
under >>>>> Standard Clock Control
set:
"C.I.A. 2" to "Disabled"

<F10> to save & exit - that should do it...

@ GENX: Next time please create a new thread. DO NOT awaken the dead.

Here, here! I keep telling people this; you're more likely to get a response with a new post; less likely to have mistakes (because we don't notice some critical difference between your post and the original post), and, most importantly, less likely to aggravate the free help!

I think we just gotta get a 'sticky' here...
