Have a 9600gt in a mini P180case, Cooling is front 120mm at 1200rpm's blowing across grpahics card, rear 120mm on low, top 200mm on low. Just surfing the net and doing basic tasks my EVGA 9600gt SC idles at 62 with the fan at 9.23%. When Gaming it creeps up to 65 with the fan at 52%. is this normal? I thought I read that this card idles at mid to high 40's and low 60's under load. Does this card have a preset temp that it likes to be at and does what ever is needed to keep it their. I thought their would be a bigger difference between load and idle.
It's fine. That means the auto fan speed settings are working like it should.
If you want to burn the card, use a stress utility instead of games. Most games don't stress fully.
http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/ Use Stress mode, default settings, no AA.
