Go for this motherboard:

MSI P45 Platinum LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
DrMOS – Extreme OC, Circu-Pipe 2 – Extreme Cooling $160.00 after rebate

Third-place performer and second-place CPU overclocker, MSI’s P45 Platinum looks like a great product, and one that a person can actually buy. Having the same feature set as the P45D3 Platinum, its $175 starting price is completely acceptable. The only question left is whether or not the $25 difference between it and the better-featured P5Q Deluxe favors MSI or Asus. For us, the value competition is a draw between these two feature-laden products.

Wow, some of that Patriot Extreme wants 2.3V! That means it is already overclocked to the eyeballs and will run hot, and at 1.8v probably has timings more like 6-6-6-18 if it will even run stably at all.

For minimal hassles, stick to RAM that will run at the JEDEC default of 1.8V (what it will be after any BIOS reset). I don't think the Patriot Extreme qualifies. Check out this Mushkin: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

lol i think i just read you saying that in a diff thread earlier. Makes sense. Do you loose anything by doing that? You gain stability right?

The biggest benefit to buying RAM spec'd at 1.8V is that you actually know exactly what you're getting. Anything spec'd at more that 1.8V is basically factory OC'd, so there no real way of knowing the quality of their product. You can always up the voltage yourself to get better timings, but atleast you know you're beginning from a good starting point.
