Understanding that the Hyper 212 + is probably the best of the bunch (though the issue is, not in stock anywhere) - are there any other good choices?

I have every other component picked out:

i7 860 with HAF 922 Case
Gigabyte UD4P Mobo with Corsair Dominator (4gig)
Corsair Dominator (4gig) and Corsair 750 Modular (Silver Certified) Power Supply
(2x) Samsung F3 (500s')
LG DVD Burner
Acer 23inch LCD
MSI 5850 GPU

I guess I could just run stock or lightly OC'd with the stock cooler, until the Hyper 212 gets in stock - but I would prefer to actually get everything together (even though the GPU was ordered from Amazon)

So any ideas?

Xigmatek Dark Knight 120mm is pretty nice--I am currently running one on my Core2 Duo and it idles around 38C OC'd to 4ghz.

I am almost positive they make a socket 1156 bracket to support your new i7 rig, and the Dark Knight's heatpipes directly touch the CPU--which I like.

Also, post up some screen shots once you get that beast running--I have been thinkin about going with a 5850 or 5870 when I do my new build. Would love to see how it performs!

There are other good choices, though you won't necessarily find many reviews with coolers on P55/1156 boards. If you do, please post some links.

You might check out reviews on: http://www.frostytech.com/

One often recommended cooler that has been revised to support 1156 is the Prolimatech Megahalems Rev B. though as with any cooler you'll want to make sure it fits your case and motherboard without encroaching more than you can afford on the RAM or PCIe slots.

I got to doing some digging myself. Here's a review of coolers on the 1366 platform: http://benchmarkreviews.com/index. [...] &Itemid=62

And there's always HardwareSecrets: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/page/cooling

Thanks Conumdrum. I spent a lot of time reading around here and asking questions of others when I was putting my new build together. Now I'm trying to return the favor by helping out where I can. Besides, my build is done and othere than tweaks here and there, there's not a lot left to do. It's kind of fun to keep learning through helping others.
