psu upgrade

A couple days ago I posted about my computer turning off and not coming back on for 2 hours. Was told to upgrade the power supply I bout the Antec Truepower Trio 430. Just got through hooking it up. Only 2 problem upgrading removing the molex cable from the dvd burner from the old psu and a bunch of wires galore. Eveything works haven't had a chance to try test drive unlimted to see if it still shuts off but I think everything is solved. When I removed the old psu the 4 pin connector to the moster board had 2 pins black like burnt. The mother board had lighter color brown spot on those exact connectors. My question is if that had burned out would the motherboard even work? Also the new psu the +5V is showing 4.99 what is the lowest it can get without causing any trouble? Last question speedfan shows a +2.5V and it's reading 1.47 both old and new psu had the same reading but everest says it's 1.5V. Any idea what this voltage is suppose to be? The ram?

Most voltages are +/- 5%, except -12V, which is +/- 10%, refer to...

Thanks for the useful link. Here is a pick of someone else's atx 4 pin connector but mine looks like that http://forums.legitreviews.com/images/psu/1.jpg the connector on the motherboard is a lighter color. So if that connector was bad it wouldn't power up at all right?
