I have just experienced my first computer failure. The computer won't turn on at all. It doesn't even turn the fans on.
Clues:
1) It is not the power supply because I tried using the one from the failed computer on another one and it worked.

2) If I unplug the ATX 12V Connector, then the fans turn on, but no lights or visuals.

3) If i plug the ATX when the fans are working, it turns off.

4) I have removed the video card.

5) I have tried the RAM.

Is it the MOBO or CPU?

9 out of 10 times it's a dead mobo, when the PSU is confirmed working. Unless you can test the cpu in another system, the only practical step is to replace the mobo first.

It turned out to be the MOBO.
Damn, cheap MOBOS.
At least it had a warranty.
