Hello my favorite community,

I was wondering if it is possible to build a DIY Eternal Storage Device, that was network ready and has USB 3.0?

Also, is there anything special that needs to be done to an HD when making your own external storage device?

Also, what would one need to make an external RAID-1 system, hardware and software wise?

Also, is there anything special that needs to be done to a DIY external storage device, if your anticipating or planning on using it on a network? How would you set that up?

If anyone knows of good articles on DYI external storage, DIY external network storage, or DIY external RAID systems, it would be extremely helpful, and I would be extremely grateful.

Thanks,

E-Turn

Looked into it. total cost was about 175.00 with a 1TB drive. I instead bought the new WD 1TB My book 3.0 for 179.99 and it comes with everything including interface PCI-E card. Not networkable but it is the best we can get now.
