Two modems

I have a SV92PP soft modem and an AT&T 2-wire modem.
I own both a desktop and a laptop.
Do I need both modems installed? Or can I delete the SV92 modem?

the SV92PP is a dial-up modem which is a little outdated; however, there is no need to delete it.

the 2Wire is a DSL modem or ADSL modem/router.
if it is a DSL modem (only one network port) you should invest in buying a router so both desktop and laptop can connect at the same time.
also it is more secure than having a computer directly connected to the modem.

if you are connected to the 2Wire there is no need to connect the SV92PP, too
