Had just gone through the Asus AM3 mobo support list and was cursing my luck when I saw my asus m3a not there :pfff:
Asus AM3 support list
Essentially what I noticed was that the min Northbridge and Southbridge needed to support was AMD 770 NB and SB700. My Asus M3A is NB 770 & SB 600. But then I just checked Gigabytes AM3 support page and there were 2 motherboards which had a 770 NB and a SB 600. Some hope for me!
Gigabyte AM3 support list
So why isn't Asus supporting SB600? If you view the specifications of my M3A and the gigabyte board (links below), the chipsets are the same except for a few minor features like extra Pci-e x1,IEEE1394etc. Would sure like if my mobo supports am3 cpus cause I cant afford another mobo upgrade :(
Is it possible that Asus could release a newer bios to support the M3A? Or am I just hoping against hope?

Got me curious, so I went and looked around. Sorry to say at this time they don't ,but that could change (keep your fingers crossed) I notice that board only supports 95W CPUs. Not sure but I thought I read somewhere that the 920 was 95W?
I would think that Asus will come out with a new bios that would support P2s. Seems like they're pretty slow when it come to that kinda thing.

You have a point. The M3A supports max 95W, while the Gigabyte ones I've listed support 125W. I guess thats where the main difference lies cause AFAIK Denebs will require 125 W. Thats a bummer :(
Hope AMD releases a low power Deneb...

AMD seeems to like the "green theme" so they more than likely will produce a low power processor. The question will be is ASUS going to be support it? So don't give up all hope just yet.

good luck

Well I hope. In the meantime there is some consolation in the new Athlon X2 7000-Series. Thanks for the replies Fester :)
