will LGA-1366 socket replace LGA-775?

im abit worried if i buy a new CPU and MoBo that they will both be completely out dated in a year. and how long until all the prices come down after core i7?

they will be completely outdated and you wont be able to upgrade. socket 775 is on its way out. but i also remember reading that a second socket, LGA1160 will debut sometime next year that also uses core i7.

dam.......... guess just get 775 when its cheap and then jump to lga1160 later.

Prices are what they are, get a REAL job and learn to speak and type, it'll make it easier to order the cheaper parts, when and if...

775 has been out FOUR plus years, with the new CPU standard emerging December 2008, NOW would be the time to get a P45 motherboard and an E8500 CPU, something I've just done, in two years when I'm looking to upgrade, the new CPU/Motherboard/Memory standards will be where I can afford them!

yr6 (11yrs old)-got a 3 in my sats (4 is average 5 is top)

yr11 (16yrs old)- 3 A* peices of english course work! and B in my mock exam.

i try hard.....

im just not rich.... i (and my family) only get to buy a PC once every 3-4yrs so i dont wanna go wasting my money!

I have good news for you then, Mom and Dad are still footing the bill so you dont need a 'decent' job, any job will do just fine. Plenty of driveways to be shoveled and lawns to be mowed.

Is 775 dead, not yet.
Would I buy a 775 system today, yes.
Will prices drop, they always do.
Will I ever buy sunbeamtech rubber screws no they all break when you try to pull them through the fan holes.
Will I ever buy Asus NO! Because they sent me 5 bad motherboards in a row and it took them 6 months to send me a good working motherboard.
Someday I might buy a Nehalem system, I'm guessing about the same time as Windows 7 hits retail.
