Can someone give me some insight on WHY it is so hard to find a good selection of coolers for the P55 platform??? Many are having a hard time choosing due to RAM clearance, compatibility, pricing, and many coolers that do not come with the bracket needed for installation. I don't know about you guys but this is unacceptable, normally the coolers are available before the mobo hit's e-tailors... So whats the holdup???

Here is a link to a very good web site with a lot of useful information and technical reviews of cpu heatsinks:

http://www.frostytech.com/top5heatsinks.cfm

You can use the embedded search engine to find information about socket specific cpu heatsinks. Here is an example of search results for the Intel LGA 1156 socket:

http://www.frostytech.com/heatsink [...] sinks#1437

As you can see there are plenty of cpu heatsinks available for the Intel LGA 1156 socket.

Ram clearance is only a problem with memory modules that have those extra tall heatspreaders that sort of look like combs. They are much taller than standard specifications and should not be used with the newer tower style heatsinks.

Yea, I have been to that website many times, the issue is not the cooler itself but the missing bracket. Many of those coolers on frosty are not even sold in the US and that is the main issue. Just because some LGA 775 coolers are compatible does not mean it will work out-of-the-box. Companies should provide all the necessary hardware to make sure it works w/o any issues whatsoever. People do not want to recur to AC or Coolermaster for their coolers, they want a TRUE, Thermalright, Zigmatek, etc....

What really gets me is how intel made the socket size bigger... they could have easily gotton away with the size of 775 or 1366.

1156 platworm is litterally 3mm larger than 775. That is unacceptable for intel to do that imo

OvrClkr - Have you looked at the different "revisions"? Manufacturers have been coming out with revised models for different sockets. Here is an example:

The revised Prolimatech Megahalems Rev B. Intel CPU Heatsink now comes LGA 1156 ready:

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/ [...] d=6Rx74q8W

Arctic Cooling is like that too. On the other hand Thermalright still requires the $9.99 LGA 1156 bolt through kit. I still use my original Thermalright Ultra 120. During my last upgrade it was definitely cheaper to pay $9.99 for a bolt through kit than pay for a new cpu heatsink.
