after the 8800 GT went to 110 a few weeks ago, i was hoping for an avalanche of price cuts...but nothing major has happened yet. I really need to upgrade my 8600 GT (but i don't think it's worth going from 8600->8800). Right now, the 3850/3870 are in my price range, but should i hold out longer? The 4670 looks promising as well.

[edit] oops! my system specs are in the sig.

I think right now is a great time to upgrade. The 8800/9800GT is waaaaay faster than the 8600GT, so that's definitely an option. The HD4670 is sweet too, and if you're feeling really lucky you might find an HD4850 in your price range :D

if i were you, wait for the nvidia 3xx launch, and that should be the price cut your looking for.

2 things, what are your power supply and CPU like?
oh, and the difference between 8600 and even g80 8800 is night and day, 8800gt would completely rape it (and a 4850 soundly beats the 8800 as well....)

+1 on the PSU question. One of the greatest advantages of the HD4670 is its ability to draw all its power from the PCIe slot.
