im trying to decide what video card i should upgrade to for my current system to go onto my next one

specs

pd 940 3.2 oc to 3.65
nvidia 7600gt
2 gigs pc4200 ram
2x 250 gb sata 3.0 hard drives in raid
xfi extreme gamer platinum edition
500 watt powersupply
2 15inch monitors

so i was thinking between these 3 video cards

4850 $180
4870 $280
9800gx2 $280

right now my mobo supports cf but only 16x-8x. and my next build that will be built in around 12-15 weeks and it will most likely be an intel board that supports cf and probably a nehalem build. im also thinking about buying a 4850x2 or 4870x2 when i do my new build.

im also thinking about buying 2 22inch monitors in the future or keep my 2 15 inch and get a 32-40 hd tv

im going to upgrade my ram from 2gigs to 3 to max out vista 32bit on my current system

all really want to do is play all the upcoming games in the next 3-4 months on high or max settings. i know i will get the best performance from a 9800gx2 but my case wont fit it unless i cut it up and i want to have crossfire. i also know bottle necking will be an issue but the card i get will go into my next system

right i think i might go with the 4850 because if i pair that up with a 4850x2 thats all the power i'll ever need

edit: does any one know how much memory the 4850x2 will have?

4850

450 Watt or greater power supply with 75 Watt 6-pin PCI Express® power connector recommended (550 Watt and two 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode)

4870

500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors recommended (600 Watt and four 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual

on http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine it said i will need 525 watts

so i guess a new powersupply is in the upgrade to, thanks for saving me an extra lot of work Proximon

You need to look at specific PSUs. Those statements are for SOME power supplies. They do NOT mean "any 450 or greater power supply."

If you purchase power supplies based solely on wattage numbers you will be very sorry.
