With the new GTX 260 being so close in performance to the 280 (at least in 3dmark 06), whats the point of buying the 280 now? I think this was everybodys early suspicions. Also why the hell does the 512mb 4850 score higher in Vantage than the 2GB one? They should at least be exactly the same if the 2GB isnt being utilized. Some of these results seem a little questionable.

About the 2GB 4850 performing like crap... Could be a BIOS problem of the card... I mean, might be a crazy vendor putting 2GB in there getting out of specs from the ATI fellows... I'm just fuzzing, but it could be that. So, with an update it could be fixed, or maybe the RV770 wasn't made for that VRAM size, lol.
Anyway, i like those charts. Simple and clear info for my eyes. I always appreciate that
Wait. I just realized something, there is no 2GB 4850.......? There is only 512mb and 1GB....**EDIT** Apparently Powercolor makes a 2GB model, the one and only. Kind of worthless.
Even if. The stock memory speed is 1986mhz, that goes for stock 512mb and 1GB models, and of course they are both using GDDR3. **EDIT** And you are right bigbruin, the memory on the 2GB powercolor is at 1800mhz.
The benchmark for that card makes no sense, at all.
