Reformatting my hard drive

on ld versions of xp i could reformat my hard drive to get rid of all the krap but i have xp pro with sp3 now and reinstalled it and cannot reformat my disci am full of krap and live in t5he wilds f france where we have dreadful supply problems and my system crashes regularly
making me rebuild on old xp i could reformat my drive but not on xp pro with sp3
please please help me

can you see the disk during the installation of XP? At the point where it asks you where to install XP.

if you can see the c: listed, easiest way would be to delete the current partition and recreate it then format it NTFS
