XP 64 bit Pro (x86) RAM limit?

I am currently running a system on windows XP 64 bit pro to try and use all the 6gb or ram in my system. However the computer is currently only using 4gb and I believe this is something to do with x86? I am a bit confused on how to get round this as I believe in theory XP 64 bit should be able to use up to 128gb of ram.

Thank you in advance for you responses.

Check the boot.ini file to make sure there is no /maxmem switch.

Could also check in your bios to see if there is an option for memory remapping or something similar.

Also are you sure you are running Xp 64 bit because you mentioned x86 which is a contradiction.
