Just updated driver on 9600gt from 175.19 to 177.79 b/c the Withcer would keep crashing. The driver update solved the game crashing problem but created a new one. When my computer is running the fan on the graphics card is pretty much inaudible (Have a very quiet system. When I put the computer to sleep the GPU fan ramps up to full blast, much like when you initially boot up the system. As soon as I wake it up everything is back to normal. I have phoned evga customer support and they told me it was a driver issue, and I was the second person to phone about this issue. Does anyone have any thing else I could try out?

The nvida site has 175.19 for their latest driver where as evga has 177.79 for theirs.

Yes it does sound like a driver issue to me. I have heard of the drivers kicking in the fan on high at boot and shutdown for a split second which it does for a reason. If yours runs flat out for more than 1 or 2 seconds then that would suggest a problem. I dont know how the Nvidia drivers are packaged but with ATI cards you can use just the display driver then use something like ATI Tray Tools to set fan profiles etc. If you can do something similar with the Nvidia drivers i would try that and then wait for the next set of drivers and see if they fix the issue.
