Here's the deal, I am planning a new build in the next month or so. I have been planning it for a while, just not sure what exactly I am after, but have it fairly well narrowed down. And, lo and behold, yesterday, my cheap-no-name PSU in my old computer fried- My wife says, 'hey, the computer just shut off.' About 2 seconds later I could smeel the stench of fried PSU. It was so hot I couldn't even touch it.
Anyway, I needs a real PSU for my build, might as well buy it now.

System for Photo editing mostly. very rare games
Planning on:

CPU: either quad 9550 or new i7
MB: Asus P5qdeluxe or ?
Vid: something mid grade 100$ or so. I don't need much.
PCI Raid card & 4 drive Raid array.
HD: as above, plus 1 system drive, 1 photoshop scratch drive, one removable drive for backups.
USB devices: multi card reader, Wacom intious tablet
Anything else I forgot?
Edited to add that I will also have 2 DVD-RW drives.
and all of this in the antec 1200 case.

So how much PSU do I need with the above?
Thanks!!

Here is one u should look into, u cant go wrong with Corsair......good quality and fantastic cabling....also u should look into getting at least a 9800GTX or a 4850....i hear many new photo editing software and stuff will be utilising the power of your graphics card for rendering.......like photoshop CS4. It helps to have as many stream processors as possible

The best but expensive psu's at the moment are the Antec Signature series, available in 650/850 watt models. Although they are pricey they exceed their stated specifications quite a bit. Reviews on johnnyguru.

probably way overkill though. Depends on your budget.

I agree the Antec signature series looks mighty nice, but I think I'd like to spend the extra money elsewhere for this build.
Seems like generally speaking, everyone is sugegstion 650-750 watts for the proposed hardware. I've been looking at the Corsair's already, and may head in that direction- though the PC P&C looks pretty good too. I'll have to do a big more reading.
Thanks, and keep the suggestions coming.
