I have an HP with Vista on it and here's a quick overview: Shut it down Saturday night after it was working just fine, started up Sunday and nothing to monitor, keyboard or mouse. CPU seems to be running fine but not putting anything out. It almost seems like it didn't shut down all the way or something and is in "limbo". I check connections and they were all fine. Any ideas????
No, the CPU is NOT running fine, only the CPU fan is running, which proves only that the PSU is not completely dead. If under warranty, get it fixed. If not, strip to motherboard, CPU (and heatsink) and PSU. If it doesn't give continuous series of beeps, one of those 3 is faulty. PSU is easiest to test, try with spare/borrowed one. Motherboard next most likely. How old is the system? Check for blown/bulging/leaking capacitors on motherboard, especially near the CPU.
The most common over looked problem could be your cmos battery. If your pc worked fine without overclocking of any sort whats stopping it from working now ? Also with a worn out battery you not likely to hear any beebs.
