This is the build I've come up with so far for my very first gaming rig:

Case:
· Silverstone TJ10-B Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case ($330)

Power Supply (PSU):
· Corsair HX1000W ($240)

Processor (CPU):
· Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 3.33GHz 6MB Cache 1333MHz FSB ($275)

Motherboard:
· ASUS RAMPAGE FORMULA LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard ($300)

Memory:
· Corsair Dominator 4 GB TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF ($110)

Video Card:
· ASUS 2 GB Radeon HD 4870 X2 ($560)

System Drive:
· Western Digital Caviar 320GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive (WD3200AAKS) ($65)

Optical Drives:
· Samsung 22X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe SH-S223Q ($30)

Operating System:
· Microsoft Windows Vista 64-bit Ultimate ($180)

Monitor:
· Samsung 2493HM 24" 5ms DVI HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor ($430)

What do you all think of this build? Is everything compatible and will everything fit inside of the case I chose? Any advice, suggestions, etc.? Since this is the first computer I will ever build myself, any tips would be appreciated!

Please explain to me how using Vista will require me to have a larger HD, because 300GB is definitely overkill for the amount of things I have on my current HD and I don't foresee the need to have a significantly larger HD anytime in the near future.

the faster and bigger HDD will enough faster speed and access and also i wouldnt pick the DDR800 dirtmountain mentioned though because it will limits the OC the E8600 and the mobo can capable off.DDR800 wouldnt get the E8600 to its max.

you will start need more space after you fiddle with you system. you will just download more movies and songs which will fill the drive up at one point. unless you got another drive for those stuff otherwise opt for a 500GB HDD at least.

As I said before, there is no need for me to have a larger hard drive at this time, as far as I know. In fact, I was previously opting for a 300GB WD VelociRaptor 10000 RPM HDD, but I figured I'd go for a significantly cheaper 7200 RPM hard drive instead.
