Overclocked and failed prime95

My current specs:

Win7 ultimate 64x
GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 mobo
Intel duo 2 core E6400 clocked to 2.8ghz
Zalmon 9500A HS
4x1gb corsair ddr2 800mhz (ran memtest86+ for 12hrs with 10 pass & no errors)
Sapphire HD5770
Corsair 650w psu

I ran prime95 because I overclocked the computer from 2.13 to 2.8 with the fsb at 1.35. At first I had it set to 3ghz at 1.40fbs but that gave me an error within a few seconds. I boost it up to play modern warfare 2. Anyhow, my problem is everytime I run Prime95 or orthos, Core #0 always dies out first leaving Core #1 still running. Any ideas on why this is happening? If you need more info, just let me know. Thanks

  1. Games barely notice any 'boost' from overclocking, so if that's your reason, don't bother.

Core #0 is dropping out because your OC is unstable, study the OCing guides to learn what you're doing, or Google and study, one thing necessary for OCing is a good OCing M/B, yours may be IDK.

"Games barely notice any 'boost'" after a certain point from overclocking,"

It also depends on CPU intensive a game is.
