Hello,
Pls. give me a hint or suggest a utility for disabling disk-checking at startup in WinXP after bad shutdown. My file system of all partitions are fat-32 and I prefer to keep it that way. (So don't ask me to switch to NTFS)

pls. mail me your suggestions to keerthikatanvila@yahoo.com

Thank you,
Regards,
Muditha

XP will request a checkdsk if it detects possible problems with the file system. It will do this regardless of the file system (NTFS or FAT32). I think your problem is elsewhere.

To answer your question... I don't think you can prevent Windows from requesting a chkdsk.

Hi Hawkeye22,
My problem is that (may be my liking) , I do not want to see scandisk or chkdsk running in my computer ever!. I can fix my HDD problems in my own without Microsoft's assistance!

Appreciating a quick & easy solution.

Regds.,
Muditha.

Do also remove my e-mail my address of previous conversation pls.

Thank you.

Do this: Start>Run>CMD

Enter: ChkNTFS /x C׃

Now your C: drive will never be bothered again. Add other drives the same way separated with a space between them.

This works no matter what the file system is on the drive.
