i'm ordering some parts for someone and her current budget allows for either a E7200 + Radeon 4850 or an E8400 + Nvidia 8800GT (either of these combos come to the same final system price). Taking into account that she is a big gamer, which one do u think i should order? she's not an overclocker so that isnt an option. thanks

If she goes the 8800 GT route and wants to add a second card in SLI ----> need NVidia chipset MOBO ----> hear those are buggy. Intel chipset MOBO's more stable.
Having said that, I would go E7200 and 4850 combo.
i'll be ordering a P45 chipset mobo (probably the GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DS3L since this is a budget computer), so no SLI. i've built my own computers before so i know the basics, but i'm not sure which one would give more fps since the E7200 might be a bottleneck according to this statement of the Radeon 4850 in which they used an X6800:
hmm i guess what i'm really asking is whether the E7200 (not overclocked) is a bottleneck for the Radeon 4850 or not. having said that, i google'd this question instead and got my answer. thanks for the help guys =)
If you are not going to OverClock, I would suggest the E8400.
The E7200 is not a great CPU at stock, but it can be overclocked quite easily and really improve performance.

I think the overall performance of the E7200+4850 will be better since most games are GPU bound more than they are CPU bound.
It really depends. Female and "big gamer" usually means MMORPG, so yeah, in that case more GPU and memory. If it's RTS, CPU. If we're talking shooters... depends on the title.
