I have a Win XP Pro SP2 setup with 1 750GB SATA hard drive, an IDE DVD ROM, and a floppy. The motherboard is a 1 year old Formula Maximus. On start up, I have about 40-45% of CPU time consumed by hardware interrupts as seen in the process explorer. If I disable, then enable, any of the primary or secondary IDE channels in the Device Manger the hardware interupts stop after the enable and nearly 100% of CPU time goes to System Idle Process.
Any idea what conflict might be causing this? Getting tired of the start-up ritual of disable/enable to free the processor up. Drivers for IDE are from Microsoft, while the drivers for SATA controllers are from Intel.
Any help for this novice would be greatly appreciated!
