Hey everyone. I've never learned much about computers so I'm having trouble deciding what to buy for a good gaming computer. Currently, I'm considering buying computer for $665 with these specs:

CPU: AMD Athlon™ X2 6000+ Dual-Core CPU w/ HyperTransport Technology

MOTHERBOARD: MSI K9A2 CF-F AMD 790X CrossFire Chipset DDR2/1066 Dual 16X PCIE SATA RAID MB w/GbLAN, USB2.0, &7.1Audio

MEMORY: (Req.DDR2 MainBoard)2GB (2x1GB) PC6400 DDR2/800 Dual Channel Memory (Corsair or Major Brand)

VIDEO CARD: ATI Radeon HD 3870 PCI-E 16X 512MB Video Card (Major Brand Powered by ATI)

HARD DRIVE: Single Hard Drive (500GB SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 16MB Cache 7200RPM HDD)

Optical Drive: (Special Price) LG 20X DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW DRIVE DUAL LAYER (BLACK COLOR)

SOUND: HIGH DEFINITION ON-BOARD 7.1 AUDIO

Now, my budget is about $1000, so could anyone help me match or beat the quality of this computer with that budget?
Thanks!

I would get 4Gb of ram. Ram is good. You could probably upgrade to a 4850 for better performance.

The real question is......what do you plan to do with said computer?
