Hey guys, from my last post iv decided to get a GTX260 over the 9800gtx+ :)

people told me dat my corsair 750watt can run sli gtx260

anyways i live in aus and the prices r alil more expensive tho i need help to noe if its bang for buck

this has caught my eye

Zotac GTX 260 AMP! $ 370

Zotac GTX 260 core 216 AMP! $ 440

Cheapest gtx260 i can find :(  rest is 400 or over

both have the same specs
core @ 650
192 Processor Cores @ 1400 MHz - 260
216 Processor Cores @ 1400 MHz - 260 core 216
2100 MHz memory clock

now the question is is the gtx 260 core 216 really worth the extra $70 more ?

im thinkin its not, however i want to see wat u guys think :)

i cant really find any benchmarks relating to BOTH video cards like (GTX260 AMP! VS GTX 260 CORE 216 AMP!)

your reply would be much appreciated :D

Hello and welcome to the forums mate :)
GTX 260 CORE 216 performs better than GTX 260 so go for the 216 model.

I would say NOT worth the difference in price.. and those are some ridiculous prices.. How much can you get a 4870 for down there?

Not worth it at all, and as a matter of fact, I would see if the HD4870 was available. If it is any cheaper, it could definitely be the card to get.

especially the 1gb version for 280$!

my mb doesnt support Crossfire so i cant get ATI cards

only supports sli so yer

oh and Maziar yes the core 216 performs beta den the gtx260

but is it worth the extra $70 more for jst a few fps

Not worth $70 at all. Its about a 10 - 20% performance increase, where if the gtx 260 was a 1 and gtx 280 was a 2, it would be a 1.3.

More like a 5-10% increase. Not worth it.

dagger.. hes not in us... lol

9800gx2 would be the ideal choice, but are you plannign on getting two?????

if your getting two cards, than yes, consider SLI.. but if your not, don't, and you can consider the 4870

hey dagger yer eklipz330 is right im not in usa and iv looked around
everywhere for the 9800gx2 and i cant find it anywhere prob not selling it anymore coz the price "crashed n burned" was around $1k before, even if i do find one it prob still be expensive compare to pny $279, so yer aus sucks =[
