So Currently I have an E6700 running in an asus P5B deluxe mobo using an ATI X1900XT.

I have a QX6700 and 4GB of PC2 8500 (1066) DDR2 all sitting on my desk.

So from the asus sight. It says:
-Intel® Quad-core CPU Ready
-Intel® Core™2 Extreme / Core™2 Duo Ready
So to me that means it should take the QX6700 right?

Not Also from the asus sight. It says it has a FSB of 1066 / 800 / 533 MHz, but then says it will only take DDR2 800 / 667 / 533 MHz. So I can't use the 1066 memory? Looks like I can run the processor, but not the memory. Correct?

Also I can't find what version of pci-e the board has. I want to upgrade to a GTX 200 series, but am not sure if it will take a PCI-E 2.0 card.

Any answers or help would be awesome! Thanks

You should always check a motherboards CPU Compatibility List (usually found on the manufacturer's web site). In this case, your motherboard will accept the QX6700 since BIOS version 0711.

Unfortunately, I can't speak for the RAM issue, but if the memory standard does not include DDR2-1066, then I, personally, would not attempt to use it.

Concerning the PCI-E slot, it doesn't matter whether it's PCI-E 1.0 or 2.0. PCI-E 2.0 graphic cards are backwards compatible with PCI-E 1.0 slots.

You are OK to try the 1066 RAM. It will run, probably. It's not like you will actually need 533 FSB.... You will just end up running it at 667 or something anyway, not 1066.

A QX6700 runs at 1066 FSB.... but the actual FSB is 266. The multiplier is 10, so that gives you the 2.66Ghz.

Ram is doubled. So 266 x 2 is 533. So, 533 is all you need. Possibly you will have to run it at some different ratio, but you should get it to work.
