Not according to Intel. http://ark.intel.com/chipset.aspx?familyID=8764
I don't see E8400 on there. I would think you would need a P965 motherboard at least.
And then you would have to flash the BIOS.

Would this be good enough http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813130081

And if I was to get a new mobo, could I keep the same hardrive etc?

From what I know you need an Intel p35w/ bios updates, or an Nvidia 680i w/ bios updates, or a P45, 750i,780i,790i etc and above. An X38/48/58 from Intel will also support 45nm processors. I would look at the p45's as they are great and do not require the updates to Bios.

Try this Asus P45, it will supports it and is not too expensive.

That product at NewEgg is no more, that's what "deactivated" means...You should be able to use all of your current hardware with a new board...

$49 after $10 MIR: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813135092
