Hi,
Yesterday I uninstalled some windows components to try and reduce resource/storage usage and today my LAN connection is reading "limited or no connectivity". I tried reinstalling the components but for some reason it won't accept the files from my XP disk when I point to it. Is there any way to get these components reinstalled without using the disk or do you think it's possible the components aren't the issue? I can't remember exactly which components were installed before (which I realise is dumb but I didn't expect to be unable to reinstall them...). Thanks for any advice you can offer.

without knowing exactly which components you uninstalled its a bit tricky to diagnose.

what i would say is try giving your connection a manual fixed ip instead of using dhcp.

Thanks for getting back to me. I assigned my LAN connection a fixed IP and it is now connected to my router but I don't have access to the internet :/ Any other suggestions? Thanks.

UPDATE: I can ping IPs through the command prompt and connect to game servers and download through bittorrent but can't load websites through a browser, does that help?

you need to set the dns servers to your routers address, its the section under where you entered the manual ip.
